Every year RBI conducts a recruitment drive to select eligible candidates to be appointed as Grade B officers in various branches all over the country. Therefore, thousands of candidates appear for the RBI Grade B recruitment cycle every year. When will RBI Grade B 2022 take place?

When is the RBI Grade B expected?

The recruitment cycle for RBI Grade B 2021 concluded in September last year. However, there has been some anxiety among candidates regarding the RBI Grade B 2022 exam dates due to the ongoing covid-19 pandemic. Nevertheless, the official notification is expected to be released in early this year. 

What we would advise the candidates to do right now, is to channel this anxiety categorically to ace your preparation and not worry about notification. The notifications is bound to come out sooner than later.

Last year RBI introduced a section on descriptive questions in Phase 2 of the examination. The Phase 2 exam will now consist of objective and subjective type of questions. Therefore, it is imperative that you take into consideration the new pattern before applying to the RBI Grade B 2022 exam.

Changes in the Phase 3 Pattern

The weightage of the Interview has been increased since RBI Grade B 2021. The Interview will now carry 75 marks instead of 50 marks.

Even though the notification is not out, it does not mean that your preparation should take a backseat. You can start your RBI Grade B 2022 preparation by doing the following-

RBI Grade B: Subject-wise Preparation

Given below are certain tips to kick-start your preparation-

General Awareness

  • Develop a habit of reading the newspaper daily. Read one newspaper for general news and one for financial/banking news.
  • Devote at least two hours daily. Keep one hour for revision and one hour for reading fresh topics.
  • Make short notes of the most important events as it is not easy to remember everything.This will also make last minute revision easy.
  • As you are aware that General Awareness is quite vast and therefore, it is essential to focus only on relevant details so you don’t get overwhelmed. You can also take the GA Daily Quiz to check your preparation.
  • Go through the RBI website regularly for latest rules and regulations regarding the financial/banking sector.
  • Set up a Google alert for RBI related updates. This will alert you whenever RBI issues any updates.
  • Most importantly, learn about the history, role and objectives of RBI.

Quantitative Aptitude

  • Start with easy topics and try to understand them in detail and then move on to the complex concepts. 
  • Try to resolve concept related questions/doubts way before the actual exam.

  • Do not start a new topic just before the exam as this would lead to confusion. Just focus on revision.
  • Accuracy and speed are the keys for scoring maximum marks in this section.
  • Spend 1 hour daily for Quantitative Aptitude preparation.
  • Make short notes for remembering formulas and short tricks and revise them daily.
  • Last but not the least, practice, practice, practice.

English Language

  • Focus on basics of English Grammar to score high in this section. Good grammar knowledge will help you with questions on error spotting, tenses, active/passive voice.
  • Improve your vocabulary by reading the newspapers, articles, magazines and books.
  • Develop a reading habit to improve your speed. This will help in the Reading Comprehension questions.

Reasoning Ability

  • Focus on topics like- Syllogism, Ranking, Blood relations, Direction sense, Puzzle, Seating Arrangement, Coding-Decoding, etc.
  • Practice seating arrangement and puzzles everyday to improve your speed and accuracy as these questions carry the maximum marks. 
  • Attempt easy questions first and then go for puzzles/seating arrangement.
  • Make notes of short tricks and revise them everyday.

Economic & Social Issues

  • This is one of the subject-centric papers in the Phase 2. Therefore, it is essential to prepare for this subject well.
  • The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the candidates’ knowledge regarding the economic and social issues prevailing in India.
  • Due to the change in the exam pattern in 2021, the paper will be 50% descriptive. You must start practicing your descriptive answer writing on the keyboard.

Descriptive English Paper

  • The English paper in Phase 2 will be descriptive in nature, wherein you will have to type your answers on the keyboard.
  • The finest way to prepare for this section is to read the editorial section of the newspapers as much as possible.

Finance & Management

  • Finance & Management is another subject-centric paper in Phase 2.
