RBI governs loans offered by banks and non-banking financial institutions to the government entities, businesses, and consumers and it also controls the availability of funds in the financial system. RBI was established on April 1, 1935, and later nationalized in the year 1949.

RBI conducts direct recruitment (DR) drives for Grade B Officer exams annually for various functions and roles. Every year RBI announces a certain number of vacancies for which the institution receives about 1000 applications per seat.
