The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is India's Central Bank and monetary authority, which controls the money supply. The RBI plays an important part in the Development Strategy of the Government of India. RBI regulates loans offered by banks and non-banking financial institutions to government entities, businesses, and consumers and it also controls the availability of funds in the financial system.

Candidates are shortlisted for the "Interview" stage based on the total score secured in Phase-II. The interview will carry 50 marks. To apply for RBI Grade B Exam, you should meet various eligibility criteria wrt Educational Qualification, Age, Nationality, No. of Attempts permissible etc.

Educational Criteria

Candidates are required to follow the below-mentioned educational criteria to apply for RBI Grade B Exam.

Educational Qualification                      

Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - (General)

A minimum of 60% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/PWD) or an equivalent grade in Bachelor’s degree as well as in 12th (or Diploma or equivalent) and 10th Standard examinations.

Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - DEPR                                                      

A Master's Degree in Economics / Econometrics / Quantitative Economics / Mathematical Economics / Integrated Economics Course/ Finance, with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters /years from a recognized Indian or Foreign University /Institute.

Officers in Grade 'B' (DR) - DSIM

A Master's Degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Mathematical Economics/ Econometrics/ Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Kharagpur/ Applied Statistics & Informatics from IIT-Bombay with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years; OR

Master's Degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years and one-year postgraduate diploma in Statistics or related subjects from an institute of repute; OR

M. Stat. The degree of Indian Statistical Institute with a minimum of 55% marks in aggregate of all semesters/years OR

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Analytics (PGDBA) jointly offered by ISI Kolkata, IIT Kharagpur and IIM Calcutta with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in aggregate of all semesters/years

Age Criteria (Maximum age)

Candidates are required to be aged between 21 to 30 years to apply for the RBI Grade B Exam. RBI has also defined the criteria for the candidates belonging to the reserved category. You can check the details in the table below:

RBI Grade B Examination 2019: How to Apply

RBI will soon release the notification containing the vacancy details for its Grade B Officer category. 

Once the notification is released for RBI Grade B 2019, the following will be the likely method of application

  • Visit  https://opportunities.rbi.org.in  and here once the registration is open, you will be redirected to RBI’s application portal.
  • Register yourself for the first time on the portal.
  • Then provide basic information about yourself such as Name, Age, Contact Particulars such as Phone, Address and Email ID.
  • A photograph & your signature should be uploaded, as per specifications provided therein.
  • Provide your educational qualification information and then save & preview your application form for any errors.
  • Payment of the fees (which is Rs. 850 or Rs. 100 depending on your category) can be made through Credit / Debit Card or Netbanking.
  • Once the form is submitted, you will receive an email with your login credentials.

RBI Grade B 2019 Admit Card

The 'centre, venue address, date and time' for both online Preliminary and online Mains Examinations and Interview shall be intimated in the respective 'Call Letter'. An eligible candidate should download his/her call letter from the authorised website by entering his/ her details i.e. Registration Number and Password/Date of Birth. No hard copy of the call letter/ Information Handout etc. will be sent by post/ courier.

RBI Grade B Exam Dates

The notification for RBI Grade B Exam is expected to be released within a few months. Last year RBI Grade B Phase I Exam was conducted in the month of August and RBI Grade B Phase II Exam was conducted in the month of September. Similar timelines are expected for this year also.
