RBI Grade B: Selection Ratio

RBI Grade B exam is one of the most sought after banking exams in the country. Therefore, every year approximately 2 lakh aspiring candidates appear for this exam in the hopes of working with the Central Bank of India. Moreover, out of the 2 lakh applicants who appear for Phase 1 of the exam, only 1% make it to Phase 2. Of these approximately 1000 candidates are called for Phase 3 i.e. Interview. And finally, only 20-25% finally get selected. Hence, it is safe to say that the competition is fierce and it is only getting fiercer day by day.

To get an edge over other candidates, it is important you understand the RBI’s selection ratio. This will help you in determining the level of competition. Furthermore, it will make you aware about how hard you need to work depending on your current preparation level to clear the RBI Grade B 2022 exam.

The shortlisting criteria of RBI is as follows-

From Phase 1 to Phase 2, the candidates called will be 15 times the vacancies across all categories.

For instance-

For RBI Grade B (General), there are a total of 238 vacancies. So, 15 times of 238 will be equal to 238 x 15= 3570

From Phase 2 to Interview, the candidates called will be 3.5 times the total vacancies across all categories. So, in other words, 3570 candidates will be called for Phase 2.

Let’s understand with the same example-

For RBI Grade B (General), there are a total of 238 vacancies. So, 3.5 times of 238 will be equal to 238 x 3.5= 833. This means, that 833 candidates will be called for the interview.
