Staff Selection Commission or SSC, as often called, is an umbrella organization under Government of India. SSC is responsible for conducting recruitment processes for various posts in different ministries and departments and subordinate offices. SSC CGL 2021-22: Assistant Section Officer (ASO) Career

The Staff Selection Commission or SSC holds Combined Graduate Level Examination or SSC CGL exam to fill various Group ‘B’ (Gazetted and Non- Gazetted) and Group ‘C’ posts in different Ministries/ Departments/ Organizations every year for all eligible graduates. The Assistant Section Officer or ASO in Central Secretariat Service (CSS) is a Grade B post under the government of India. They act as a bridge between the Parliament and the Central Secretariat and is primarily a desk job. As an ASO in CSS your first promotion will take place in 5-6 years as a Section officer which is a gazetted post, if you clear the departmental exam. Then as Under Secretary in 6-8 years, Deputy Secretary in 8-10 years and Director in 8-10 Years.

SSC CGL 2021-22: Assistant Section Officer Salary and Perks

SSC CGL exam is attempted by aspirants in large numbers not only because it is a stable and secured central government job but the perks, allowances and salary that is being offered is also lucrative. The SSC CGL in-hand salary of Assistant Section Officer is ₹58-60,000 that includes HRA, DA, TA and grade pay is Rs 4600.

As an SSC CGL ASO or SSC CGL Assistant Section Officer your work be related to drafting communications, coordinating with different sections, maintaining all file related matters. In brief, some of the responsibilities are mentioned below-

  • Basic Noting / Drafting.
  • Regular office work
  • Replying to RTIs, Parliament Questions, Grievances of Public / Employees, Preparing Salary Bills of Staff
  • Creating / putting up the file on work assigned by your senior.
  • Typing letter / notes, replying to the correspondence of letter / notes received.
  • Type of Work Depends on the Section you are posted in
