As we have seen from Kailash’s experience, the job of an AFO is highly coveted. Take a look at Kailash Tiwari’s experience (ex-AFO at UBI) to understand what it is like to be an IBPS PO/SO

Life of an Agriculture Officer

Let us see a few snippets from Kailash’s life to watch him in action.

This is the best part of this job. As an AFO, you have to engage directly with people living in rural areas. They respect you very much and they will help you in every way they can. In fact, every time you cross them they will greet you so this brings a feeling of immense satisfaction.

Kailash Tiwari and team organized a small camp for villagers to educate them about the importance of having a Savings Account and to educate them about various government schemes like the importance of PMJDY (Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana), social security schemes- Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (Rs 12/year premium), Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (Rs 330/Year Premium) and Atal Pension Yojana (APY)- Pension scheme.

In this photograph, Kailash is enquiring about a person of a village as shopkeepers generally know everything and everybody in the village.

This is very routine for a field officer to regularly visit the villages for various works like:-

1- To visit for inspection KCC or new loan proposal for the basic due diligence and to verify the land records, farmer reputation, or credit behaviour in the village

2- To aware farmers of various govt initiatives in the field of agriculture, like in 2020 govt initiated PM KISAN -KCC saturation drive- the aim is to provide credit facilities to all beneficiaries of PM KISAN scheme, then KCC to dairy farmers so the extension of these facilities is the responsibility of bankers

3- To visit farmers’ homes in case of delay in loan repayment or if the loan is about to default, then notice serving, or regular notice serving in NPA accounts and such.
