Latest Indian Government Schemes 2019 (Part 2)

In the continuity of part one of the Latest government schemes, we have come up with the second part which includes some very important schemes launched or revised by the government recently in the year 2019. These schemes will be useful for the General Awareness section in the upcoming exams like NABARD Grade A, RBI Assistant and SBI Clerk exam. They are as follows:

Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN)

PM-KISAN Yojna is a Central government scheme launched with the objective of providing financial support to all farmer families having cultivable land. The recently revised scheme is expected to cover around two crores more farmers making the coverage of a total of around 14.5 crore farmers as beneficiaries.

Who are the beneficiaries?

Any farmer having cultivable land of up to 2 hectors will be provided financial support of rupees 6000 per year. This support will be transferred directly to the bank account of beneficiaries in three equal installments of rupees 2000 each.

The Union Government will bear the total expenditure of the scheme i.e. Rs. 75,000 crore.

Note:

Higher economic status holders such as intuitional landholders, professionals like doctors, engineers and lawyers who paid income in the last assessment year or who have a pension of monthly rupees 10,000 or more are not eligible for the benefits.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojna-Urban

Ministry Involved: Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

Headed by: Harshdeep Singh Puri.

Objective: To provide housing assistance (Pucca houses with water connection, toilet and electricity facilities) to urban poor (including slum dwellers). The houses must be designed to meet safety against earthquakes, floods, cyclones, and landslides.

Who are the Beneficiaries?

  • Economically weaker section
  • Low-income groups
  • Middle-income groups

The beneficiary must not have a house under his name or any member of his family anywhere in India. Earlier the deadline to provide Pucca houses was 2022 but the revised deadline got advanced by two years. i.e 2020

Pradhan Mantri Rojgar Protsahan Yojna(PMRPY)

Ministry Involved: Ministry of Labour and Employment

Headed by: Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar

Objective: This scheme was launched to incentivize the employer for promoting employment and social security to the workers.

Who are the beneficiaries?

The establishments that are registered with EPFO are eligible to apply for the benefit. To apply for the scheme the establishment must have a valid LIN ( Labour Identification Number).

This scheme encourages employers of Small and Medium enterprises along with Micro Business to get the benefit from this scheme.

The government is paying full employers’ contribution i.e 12% for a period of three years in respect of new employees who have been registered with the EPFO on or after April 01, 2016, holds a salary of up to Rs 15,000 per month. There is no human interference as the entire implementation of the scheme is Online and AADHAR Based.

PM Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojna( PM-SYM)

Ministry Involved: Ministry of Labour and Employment

Headed by: Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar

Objective: To provide assured pension to Unorganized workers ensuring old age protection. The budget that has been allocated for this scheme in 2019-20 is Rs 500 crore.

Who are the beneficiaries?

Persons who are aged between 18 to 40 years of age and are earning Rs 15,000 or less than in a month are eligible for this scheme. This scheme will benefit 10 crore workers from the Unorganized sector.

The workers who will subscribe to this scheme will get an assured monthly pension of Rs 3000 per month after reaching 60 years of age.                                           

Ayushman Bharat Yojna(National Health Protection Scheme):

Ministry Involved: Ministry of Healthy and Family welfare.

Headed by: Dr Harshvardhan

Objective: This scheme is also known as Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna aims to address health care at primary, secondary and tertiary levels.

Who are the beneficiaries?

This is for economically vulnerable sections of society who are in need of basic healthcare facilities.

Under this scheme, the beneficiaries will get an e-card that can be used in empaneled hospitals anywhere in the country to avail the services of the hospital free of cost. The e-card will provide coverage of a total of 5 lakh/ family per year. It aims to benefit 50 crore individuals.
