There is enough food in a camp to last for 50 days if each of the 40 soldiers present at the camp eat 2 times a day. After 20 days, 40 more soldiers joined the camp and remaining ate only once a day. For how many days (from start) will the food last?
Solution
Let the eating capacity of each soldier be 'x' units So, total food at the camp = (50 X 40 X 2 X x) = '4000x' units And food remaining after 20 days = 4000x - (20 X 40 X 2 X x) = '2400x' units So, required time = 2400x Γ· (x X 1 X 80) = 30 days So, the food will last for a total of 30 + 20 = 50 days
