A’s 1-day work = 1/18 B’s 1-day work = 1/27 Together 1 day: = 1/18 + 1/27 LCM(18,27) = 54 = 3/54 + 2/54 = 5/54 Work done in 6 days = 6 × 5/54 = 30/54 = 5/9 Remaining work = 1 − 5/9 = 4/9 Now B alone works at 1/27 per day. Time = (4/9) ÷ (1/27) = (4/9) × 27 = 4 × 3 = 12 days
