Question
There is enough food in a camp to last for 30 days if
each of the 60 soldiers present at the camp eat 4 times a day. After 12 days, 12 more soldiers joined the camp and remaining ate only 3 times a day. For how many days (from start) will the food last?Solution
Let the eating capacity of each soldier be 'x' units So, total food at the camp = (30 X 60 X 4 X x) = '7200x' units And food remaining after 12 days = 7200x - (12 X 60 X 4 X x) = '4320x' units So, required time = 4320x ÷ (x X 3 X 72) = 20 days So, the food will last for a total of 20 + 12 = 32 days
