The Maharashtra State Board of Wildlife (SBWL), during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, designated the Delhi Public School (DPS) wetland in Navi Mumbai as a Flamingo Conservation Reserve. Often referred to as DPS Flamingo Lake, this 30-acre wetland is located in the Seawoods area and functions as part of the Thane Creek Flamingo Sanctuary's satellite wetland ecosystem. Flamingos frequently visit satellite wetlands including Panje, DPS lake, NRI, and T S Chanakya for rest and foraging. During the same meeting, the SBWL also approved the expansion of Bor Wildlife Sanctuary in Wardha and implemented measures to protect sacred groves (Devrais) in the Western Ghats.
