RRB NTPC Exam Pattern 2021
As the RRB NTPC Recruitment 2021 is going to be held from December 15, 2020 onwards, it will be a good idea to take a look at the RRB NTPC 2021 exam pattern for better understanding about the exam. RRB conducts a computer-based examination for NTPC Recruitment which is held in four phases:
- CBT 1 - Preliminary Test
- CBT 2 - Main Test
- Typing Skill Test/ Computer Based Aptitude Test (Whichever applicable)
- Document Verification / Medical Test
The Typing Skill Test will be applicable to the posts of Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Accounts Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist and Junior Time Keeper.
Computer-Based Aptitude Test will be applicable for only those candidates who opt for the posts of Station Master and Traffic Assistant.
RRB NTPC Exam Pattern for First Stage of CBT
The first phase of RRB NTPC Examination is CBT-1 which will be an online preliminary examination which is common for all the posts mentioned in the official notification of RRB NTPC Recruitment 2021. The first stage of the computer-based test will be objective type and will include three tests of General Awareness, Mathematics & General Intelligence and Reasoning. There will be total of 100 questions in the test and each section will be allotted different marks. The time duration provided will be 90 minutes.
- There will be a negative marking of 1/3 marks, which implies that for every incorrect answer 1/3 of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted.
- The marks obtained in the first stage will be normalized and on the basis of that, the candidates will be shortlisted for CBT 2.

RRB NTPC Exam Pattern for the Second Stage of CBT
If you are able to qualify the first stage, you will be required to appear in the 2nd stage CBT - the Main Test. The second stage (Main test) will also be an objective type which will consist of three sections: General Awareness, Mathematics & General Intelligence, and Reasoning. All the sections will be allotted different marks and the total time will be 90 minutes. The total number of questions and total marks will be 120. The level of the exam will be different for different posts. The marks obtained in the Main examination will be normalized before releasing the final merit.

RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test (TST)
After both the stages of CBT are done, for some of the posts the typing skill test will also be held. The Typing Skill Test will be qualifying in nature and eight times the number of vacancies will be called for the typing test. The candidates will be required to type 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi on Personal Computer only without editing tools and spell check facility.
Candidates who are permanently disabled due to Blindness/Low Vision, Cerebral Palsy & Loco Motor Disability with not less than 40% permanent disability will be exempted from the Typing Test only after they produce a certificate pertaining to the test exemption issued by the Competent Medical Board which will be available on the website of respective RRBs before the Typing Skill Test will be conducted.

RRB NTPC Computer Based Aptitude Test
The candidates who will opt for Traffic Assistant and Station Master will also be required to appear in a Computer Based Aptitude Test on the basis of their performance in the 2nd Stage CBT. The candidates will have to score a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each of the test batteries to qualify. There is no facility of relaxation in minimum marks for any category of candidates.
RRB NTPC Document Verification
Based on the performance of candidates in the 2nd Stage CBT and other tests (as applicable) as per the posts, the candidates equal to the number of vacancies will be called for document verification. In addition to this on the discretion of RRBs, candidates equal to 50% ( may increase or decrease at the discretion of RRBs) of the number of vacancies for various posts will also be called for document verification.

RRB NTPC Marking scheme
RRB NTPC 2021 Exam process consists of two objective tests - CBT 1 & CBT 2 which will consist of 100 questions and 120 questions respectively. The questions will carry 1 mark each in both the tests and both tests will consist of a negative marking of 1/3 marks.

RRB NTPC Age Criteria
All candidates who apply for RRB NTPC 2021 have to follow a fixed age criteria prescribed in the official notification. The age will be reckoned as on the date mentioned in the official notification.
