Question
Priya is sitting inside train C which is travelling at a
speed of 48 km/h. Another train D, whose length is five times the length of train C and travelling with a speed of 54 km/h (in opposite direction to that of train C) crosses Priya in 20 seconds. Find the length of train C (in metres).Solution
ATQ,
Relative speed = 48 + 54 = 102 km/h = 102 × 5/18 = 28.33 m/s
Let the length of train C be ‘x’ meters
So, 5x = 28.33 × 20
Or, 5x = 566.6
Or, x = 113.32 ≈ 113 metres
