Question
Train 'C' running with a speed of 90 km/hr crosses a
pole in 8 seconds. In how much time will train 'C' cross train 'D' whose length is 80 meters more and speed is 40% more than 'C', which is running in the opposite direction of 'C'?Solution
ATQ, Speed of train 'C' = 90 × (5/18) = 25 m/sec Therefore, length of train 'C' = 25 × 8 = 200 meters Length of train 'D' = 200 + 80 = 280 meters Speed of train 'D' = 25 + (25 × 0.4) = 35 m/sec Required time taken = (200 + 280) / (25 + 35) = 480 / 60 = 8 seconds
