Question
Two scooters ‘G’ and ‘H’ started at the same time
from two towns ‘U’ and ‘V’ towards each other. When they met after 4 hours, scooter ‘H’ had travelled 60 km more than scooter ‘G’. What distance did scooter ‘G’ travel in 2 hours if the total distance between the towns is 300 km?Solution
ATQ,
Let distance travelled by scooter ‘G’ at the time of meet = x km
So, distance travelled by scooter ‘H’ at the time of meet = x + 60 km
According to question;
x + x + 60 = 300
Or, 2x = 240
Or, x = 120
Distance travelled by scooter ‘G’ in 4 hours = 120 km
Speed of scooter ‘G’ = 120 / 4 = 30 km/h
Distance travelled by scooter ‘G’ in 2 hours = 30 × 2 = 60 km
