SBI PO Exam Pattern 2020

Being among the most awaited jobs, SBI offers great opportunities for career growth and thus the SBI exam cannot be taken lightly. Therefore, it is advisable to be aware of the exam format and exam pattern of SBI PO to avoid any errors later. The exam pattern for SBI PO 2020 - 21 is the same as last year's. The SBI PO exam 2020 will be conducted in three phases:

  • Phase 1 - Prelims Exam.
  • Phase 2 - Mains Exam.
  • Phase 3 - GD & Interview.

After all the phases of SBI PO are completed, the final list of the selected candidates will be released.

SBI PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2020

The SBI PO Prelims 2020 will be an online test consisting of three sections - English Language, Reasoning Ability and Numerical Ability respectively, not in any fixed order. You do not have any option to switch to another section in between unless the time for that section is exhausted.

  • There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer. It means that for one incorrect answer, one-fourth of the marks allotted to that question will be deducted.
  • There is no sectional cut-off in the SBI PO Prelims. The overall score in all three sections will be considered for selection.

SBI PO Mains Exam Pattern 2020

Once the SBI PO exam for Prelims is over, those who are able to qualify will appear in the SBI PO Mains exam. The SBI PO Mains exam will consist of 4 sections: English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude and General / Economy / Banking Awareness respectively. Apart from this objective test, the SBI PO Mains exam also consists of a ‘Descriptive Test’ of 30 minutes duration in which English writing skills will be tested. Thus, the total time duration of the SBI PO Mains exam will be 3 hours 30 minutes. 

(i) Objective Test

The Objective Test of SBI PO Mains exam consists of four sections namely: English Language, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, and General / Economy / Banking Awareness. (ii) Descriptive Test

The Descriptive Test of the SBI PO Mains 2020 will be held in continuation with the Objective one, though the test will be evaluated only for those who manage to score qualifying marks in the SBI PO objective test.

SBI PO Phase 2020: Group Discussion & Personal Interview

If you are able to qualify for the SBI PO Mains 2020 exam, then you will be called for Phase 3, i.e. Group Discussion (GD) & Personal Interview (PI), in the ratio of 3:1 with respect to the vacancies, where you will have to participate in group exercises and face an interview board. SBI PO Marking Scheme

SBI PO exam 2020 marking scheme is the same for both Prelims and Mains. In the SBI PO Prelims exam for every incorrect answer, 1/4th of the marks will be deducted whereas for every correct answer 1 mark will be allotted. SBI PO Exam Language

SBI PO exam 2020 will be bilingual in nature which means you can attempt the exam in either of the languages i.e. English or Hindi. One of the most worrisome things for,  who wishes to apply for any exam is age eligibility. Age limit criteria are one thing that needs to be taken care of in order to apply for the SBI PO exam. For SBI PO exam 2020 you need to be in between a minimum age of 20 years and a maximum of 30 years of age. i.e. You must have been born not later than April 01, 1999, and not earlier than April 02, 1990 (both days inclusive) If you lie out of this range, you are not eligible to apply for the SBI PO exam 2020.

SBI PO Age Relaxation

SBI provides a certain relaxation in age according to the various categories of applicants. The purpose behind providing an age relaxation to certain categories of applicants is probably to support them and not deprive them of the job facilities. There is an upper age relaxation of 5 years if you belong to SC/ST category whereas if you belong to OBC category you enjoy an upper age relaxation of 3 years.   • The official notification for SBI PO 2020 will specify that any change in the category will not be entertained later on. Thus, it is advised to fill in your category carefully at the start of the application. If you belong to the OBC category but come in the creamy layer, you are not entitled to OBC reservation or age relaxation. You are supposed to indicate your category as ‘GEN’ / ‘GEN’ (LD) / ‘GEN’ (VI) / ‘GEN’ (HI) / ‘GEN’ (d&e) - as applicable.
  • The benefits provided under EWS category can be availed only if the ‘Income and Asset Certificate’ is produced.

SBI PO 2020: How to Apply Online

It is advised to have a look at the SBI PO notification 2020 thoroughly in order to avoid any kind of misinformation. It should also be noted that you should fill out the SBI PO application form very carefully because any mistake in the application form can lead to disqualification from the exam. The SBI PO application process has been simplified in a few steps:

  • Go to the official website of SBI: www.sbi.co.in and click on the ‘CLICK HERE FOR NEW REGISTRATION tab provided on the top right corner of the page.
  • You will be redirected to the first page of the application form where you will be required to fill in all the basic details and click on the Save & Next button to move forward.
  • You will now be redirected to the second page of the form where you will be asked to upload your scanned passport size photograph and signature based on the specification mentioned there and click on the Next button.
  • Guidelines of uploading photograph and signature:
    • The size of the photograph must be in between 20Kb to 50kb.
    • The size of the signature should be in between 10kb to 20kb.
  • After you move on to the next page, you will have to fill in your personal details including your educational qualifications.
  • The next step would be filling the exam centres preference list. You will be required to fill in 4 centres. Click on 'Save & Next'.
  • After you are finished entering the details, the preview of your form will be shown, so that if you find any errors, you may edit and correct it. Once the application is submitted, you will not be able to edit it.
  • In the end, you will have to choose a preferable online payment method to submit the application fee for SBI PO. You can pay the fees through credit card/debit card / net banking etc.
  • Click on the 'Submit' button to complete the application

Once the SBI PO application form is submitted, you have to fill the application fee for the same. The payment of the application fee for SBI PO can be done through online mode only. SBI PO Exam Centres

SBI will be allocating the exam centres to all the SBI PO 2020 applicants according to the selected choice of the state/city. No request pertaining to change the exam centre for SBI PO exam will be entertained by SBI, though SBI itself reserves the right to make any change in the list of exam centres. Exam centres for both  SBI PO Prelims and Mains will be asked at the time of filling out the application form. No change in the SBI PO exam centre shall be entertained once the application form is submitted.

SBI PO Admit Card 2020

SBI will be releasing the SBI PO  admit card 2020 for the Prelims exam from the third week of December 2020 onwards. The SBI PO admit card for prelims will be updated on the official website of the State Bank of India. You are advised to keep visiting the official website in order to keep yourself updated about the admit card. The admit cards for the SBI PO Mains exam will be released in the month of January 2021. As there will not be a long gap between SBI PO Prelims and Mains exam so keep your preparation updated.

Q8: What is the meaning of EWS category?

EWS category refers to 'Economically Weaker Sections'. The Central Govt. has introduced this reservation for Economically Weaker Sections among the General category of candidates.This provision was introduced to provide 10% reservation in higher education and government jobs to those who although belong to General category but:  * their gross family annucal income lies below 8 Lakh.  * if the agricultural land owned by their family is less than 5 acres. * if the residential flat owned by the family is less than 1000 sq.ft. * if the residential plot owned by the family is less than 100 sq. yards (in notifiied municipalities) & less than 200 sq yards in other than notififed municipalities.
