Question
‘P’ and ‘Q’ together can finish a task in 15 days
while ‘Q’ alone can do it in 25 days. If the ratio of efficiencies of ‘P’ and ‘R’ is 3:5 respectively, then find the ratio of efficiencies of ‘Q’ and ‘R’.Solution
ATQ,
Let total work = 75 units {LCM of 15 and 25}
Efficiency of (P + Q) = 75/15 = 5 units/day
Efficiency of Q = 75/25 = 3 units/day
Therefore, efficiency of P = 5 – 3 = 2 units/day
Efficiency of R = 2 × (5/3) = 10/3 units/day
Required ratio = 3 : 10/3 = 9 : 10
