    The average of 5 numbers, arranged in a row, is 309. Sum of 5 numbers, arranged in a row = 309x5 = 1545 The average of the first two of these numbers is 431. Sum of the first two of these numbers = 431x2 = 862 The average of the last two of these numbers is 231.5. Sum of the last two of these numbers = 231.5x2 = 463 Value of the number at the center of the row = 1545-(862+463) = 1545-1325 = 220
