    Six statements are given below, which are jumbled in any random order. These statements will form a coherent and meaningful paragraph, when arranged in the correct sequence. Arrange the sentences in the right order and answer the questions that follow. (a) Born and raised in the remote village of Madhapur in Nayagarh district, the 24-year-old cricketer has been passionate about the sport right from the childhood. (b) Rana, however, started to earn a name in village-level cricket tournaments and played tennis-ball cricket during his early school days. (c) He said in the interview that he was so hooked to cricket even when he grew up that after appearing in the Class X Board examination in the morning, he would go straight to play a tournament in the afternoon. (d) His father, a priest in village Shiv Temple, and elder brother, an agricultural labourer, were not in a position to help him realise his dream. (e) However, this did not diminish his passion for pursuing his dream of making it to the elite league in this cricket-crazy country. (f) After toiling for hours under the scorching sun and crawling in cramped spaces to repair pipes and fix drains in the first half of the day, Prashant Rana would find it extremely taxing to slog further on the cricket field in the afternoon.

    The correct order of the sentences is f, e, a, d, b and c . Here, a is not the first sentence because, ‘the 24-year-old cricketer’ and ‘the sport’ is mentioned and we have no idea whom/what they are referring to. f is apt as the introductory sentence. So, it comes first. The second sentence is e , as it says that even these harsh circumstances did not diminish his passion. The rest of the sentences talk about his childhood and family. In that, a comes first and is the third sentence of the passage. We can understand that c follows b because c talks about early school days and c talks about the time he grew up a little. In b , there is a word ‘however’. So, we can understand that something opposite is mentioned in the sentence before that. d is apt as the sentence before b .
