There is enough food in a camp to last for 40 days if each of the 60 soldiers present at the camp eat 3 times a day. After 10 days, 10 soldiers left the camp and remaining ate only twice a day. For how many days (from start) will the food last?
Solution
Let the eating capacity of each soldier be 'x' units So, total food at the camp = (40 X 60 X 3 X x) = '7200x' units And food remaining after 10 days = 7200x - (10 X 60 X 3 X x) = '5400x' units So, required time = 5400x Γ· (x X 2 X 50) = 54 days So, the food will last for a total of 54 + 10 = 64 days
