Let the total work = 120 units {LCM (24 and 15)}
Efficiency of ‘Y’ = (120/24) = 5 units/day
Efficiency of ‘X’ and ‘Y’ together = (120/15) = 8 units/day
Efficiency of ‘Y’ = (8 – 5) = 3 units/day
Time taken by ‘Y’ to complete the project alone = (120/3) = 40 days
