      Question

      A and B together, B and C together and A and C

together can complete a piece of work in 40 days, 30 days and 50 days respectively. Find the ratio of the efficiencies of A, B and C, respectively.
A 53:73:17 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 41:19:14 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 17:25:31 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 7:23:17 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

Let, the total work be 600 units (LCM of 40, 30 and 50)
Amount of work done by A and B together in one day = 600/40 = 15 units
Amount of work done by B and C together in one day = 600/30 = 28 units
Amount of work done by A and C together in one day = 600/50 = 12 units
      Amount of work done by A, B and C together in one day = (15 + 28 + 12)/2 = 23.5 units
      Amount of work done by A alone in one day = 23.5 – 20 = 3.5 units
      Amount of work done by B alone in one day = 23.5 – 12 = 11.5 units
      Amount of work done by C alone in one day = 23.5 – 15 = 8.5 units
So the desired ratio = 7:23:17
