    Total number of animals = 55 Let the number of kitten be x so, number of puppies = 55 - x Now, according to the question, 8x + 11(55 - x) = 500 8x + 605 - 11x = 500 3x = 105 x = 35 Hence, number of puppies = 55 - x = 55 - 35 = 20
