A solution has milk and water in the proportion 3:2. After

removing 20 ml of this solution and adding 10 ml milk, the ratio becomes 4:1. Find the total volume of the original solution.
A 19 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 30 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 40 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 15 ml Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

Let milk and water after removal be 3x ml and 2x ml.

    Milk after adding 10 ml = (3x + 10) ml

    ATQ,

    {(3x + 10) / 2x} = 4/1

    So, 3x + 10 = 8x

    So, 8x - 3x = 10

    So, x = 2

    So, total quantity = 3×2 + 2×2 + 20 = 6 + 4 + 20 = 30 ml
