      Question

In a mixture, 25% is water and the remainder is milk.

The milk is 140 liters more than the water. How much water is in the mixture?
A 25 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 40 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 70 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 16 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E none of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ Let the total quantity of mixture be '100x' litres. So, quantity of water = 100x × 0.25 = '25x' litres And quantity of milk = 100x - 25x = '75x' litres ATQ: 75x - 25x = 140 Or, 50x = 140 So, x = 2.8 So, quantity of water present in the mixture = 25x = 2.8 × 25 = 70 litres
