      Let total mixture = x litres Initial milk = 5x/8 Initial water = 3x/8 After removing 12 litres of mixture: Milk left = 5x/8 - 12 × 5/8 = 5x/8 - 15/2 Water left = 3x/8 - 12 × 3/8 = 3x/8 - 9/2 After adding 12 litres water: Water = 3x/8 - 9/2 + 12 = 3x/8 + 15/2 New ratio = 3 : 2 So, (5x/8 - 15/2) / (3x/8 + 15/2) = 3/2 2(5x/8 - 15/2) = 3(3x/8 + 15/2) x = 300 litres
