Question
Quantity of water in a 300 litres mixture (Milk + Water) is 60 litres less than the quantity of milk in it. Find the quantity of water to be mixed so that the quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 45% of the whole mixture.
Solution
Quantity of water in the mixture = {(300 - 60)/2} = 120 litres
So, quantity of milk in the mixture = (300 - 120) = 180 litres
Total quantity of the mixture if quantity of milk in the mixture becomes 45% = 180 × (100/45) = 400
So, quantity of water needs to be mixed = (400 - 300) = 100 litres
