ATQ, Let present age of daughter = d Present age of mother = m Given: m + d = 52 ...(1) Four years ago: Mother’s age = m − 4 Daughter’s age = d − 4 Given: m − 4 = 3(d − 4) m − 4 = 3d − 12 m = 3d − 8 ...(2) From (1): m + d = 52 Substitute m from (2): (3d − 8) + d = 52 4d − 8 = 52 4d = 60 d = 15 So daughter’s present age = 15 years.
