      Let the present age of Farhan be 100x years. Present age of Chetan = 50% of Farhan’s age = 50% of 100x = 50x years Present age of Sonu = 120% of Chetan’s age = 120% of 50x = 60x years According to the question, Average age of Chetan, Farhan and Sonu = 42 years So,{50x + 100x + 60x}/3 = 42 {210x}/3 = 42 70x = 42 x = {42/70} = 0.6 Therefore, present age of Sonu = 60x = 60 × 0.6 = 36 years
