    2:3. Five years later, the ratio of their ages will be 3:4. What was the age of ‘R’ 6 years ago?

    ATQ,

    Let present ages of R and S be 2x and 3x years.

    ATQ:

    (2x + 5)/(3x + 5) = 3/4

    ⇒ 4(2x + 5) = 3(3x + 5)

    ⇒ 8x + 20 = 9x + 15

    ⇒ x = 5

    So, present age of R = 2x = 10 years

    Therefore, age of R 6 years ago = 10 – 6 = 4 years
