Each of the questions below consists of a question and two statements numbered I and II given below it. You have to decide whether the data provided in the statements are sufficient to answer the question. Read both the statements and give answer – 

What is Pankaj’s ranking among the boys in his class?

Statement I. There are 32 students in the class and Pankaj’s rank is second from the bottom.

Statement  II. There is only one girl in the class and her rank is not the last.

Solution

Combining I and II: There are 32 students, one girl and 31 boys in the class, Pankaj’s rank is 31st in the class and since the girl is not 31st, she has to be above Pankaj. Therefore, Pankaj’s rank among the 31 boys is 30th.
