'A' started the work alone and worked on it for 1 day, then 'B' alone worked on it for 16 days and 'C' alone completed the remaining work in 18 days. Let the total work be 36 units. {LCM of 12 and 18} Combined efficiency of 'A' and 'B' = 36 Γ· 12 = 3 units/day Combined efficiency of 'B' and 'C' = 36 Γ· 18 = 2 units/day Work done by A in 1 day = a units
Work done by B in 16 days = 16b units
Work done by C in 18 days = 18c units a + b = 3
b + c = 2 So, a = 3 β b and c = 2 β b (3 β b) + 16b + 18(2 β b) = 36
3 β b + 16b + 36 β 18b = 36
39 β 3b = 36
3b = 3
