    Question

‘A’ can finish a project in 40 days, whereas ‘B’

finishes 50% of the project in 12 days less than ‘A’. How many days will it take both ‘A’ and ‘B’ to complete 90% of the project together?
A 21 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 15 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 34 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 25 days Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    Time taken by ‘B’ to complete the whole work = (40 – 12)/0.5 = 56 days Let the total work = 280 units Efficiency of ‘A’ = 280/40 = 7 units/day Efficiency of ‘B’ = 280/56 = 5 units/day Required time taken = {(0.9 × 280)/(7 + 5)} = 252/12 =  21 days
