Question
Driving at (4/5) of his usual speed, a man reaches his destination 36 minutes late. Find the time he normally takes to cover the distance.
Solution
ATQ, When distance is constant, Time ∝ (1 / Speed) So, the ratio of usual time to new time = 4 : 5 Let the usual time = 4t minutes and new time = 5t minutes. 5t – 4t = 36 ⇒ t = 36 Usual time = 4t = 4 × 36 = 144 minutes
