    Question

    Walking at (5/6) of his usual speed, a man reaches the bus

    stop 20 minutes late. Find the time he usually takes to reach the bus stop.
    A 122 mins Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    B 100 mins Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    C 133 mins Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
    D 129 mins Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

    Solution

    ATQ,

    When distance is constant,

    Time ∝ (1/Speed)

    So, the ratio of time taken at usual speed to the time taken at new speed = 5:6

    Let the usual time be ‘5t’ minutes and new time be ‘6t’ minutes.

    6t – 5t = 20

    t = 20

    So, usual time = 5t = 5 × 20 = 100 minutes
