Question
'A' and 'B' are running on a circular track of length
4500 metres. 'A' is running clockwise at 5 m/s while 'B' is running anti-clockwise at 7 m/s. Find the difference between the distance covered by 'A' and 'B' by the time they meet for the tenth time.Solution
ATQ, Time taken to meet for the first time = 4500 ÷ (5 + 7) = 375 seconds So, time taken to meet for 10th time = 375 × 10 = 3750 seconds So, distance covered by 'A' in 3750 seconds = 3750 × 5 = 18750 metres And distance covered by 'B' in 3750 seconds = 3750 × 7 = 26250 metres So, required difference = 26250 - 18750 = 7500 metres
