Question
Amit and Deepak are standing on point A and B
respectively, which are 300km apart. Amit starts moving to and from between A and B at 25km/hr while Deepak starts moving to and from between B and A at 35km/hr. What will be the difference between the total distance travelled by Amit and Deepak when they meet for the 8th time? (in km)Solution
ATQ, Distance = 300km Relative speed = 25 + 35 = 60 kmph So, first time they meet after = (300/60) = 5 hours Now, in the second time both travelled (300 + 300) km distance and relative speed = 25 + 35 = 60 kmph They meet after (600/60) = 10 hours Similarly, for the third time, fourth time …8th time they meet after 10 hours in each case. Now, total time = (5 + 7) x 10 = 75 hours Required difference = (35 x 75) - (25 x 75) = 75(35 - 25) = 75 x 10 = 750km
