    Solution

    I. x2 - 20x + 96 = 0 => x2 - 12x - 8x + 96 = 0 => x(x - 12) - 8(x - 12) = 0 => (x - 12) (x - 8) = 0 => x = 12, 8 II. y2 - 23y + 22 = 0 => y2 - 22y - y + 22 = 0 => y(y - 22) - 1(y - 22) = 0 => (y - 22) (y - 1) = 0 => y = 22, 1 Hence, relationship between x and y cannot be established.
