Question
Out of the total income of Priya, she spends 25% on
food, 30% on rent and 25% on groceries. Out of the remaining income, she donates 10% in a charity and saves the rest. If Priya saves Rs. 4,500, then find her income.Solution
ATQ, Let the income of Priya be Rs. '100x' Amount spent on food = '100x' X 0.25 = Rs. '25x' Amount spent on rent = '100x' X 0.3 = Rs. '30x' Amount spent on groceries = '100x' X 0.25 = Rs. '25x' Remaining income = ('100x' - '25x' - '30x' - '25x') = Rs. '20x' Savings of Priya = '20x' X 0.9 = 4,500 Or, 18x = 4,500 Or, x = 4,500 ÷ 18 = 250 Therefore, income of Priya = 100x = 100 X 250 = Rs.25,000
