Question
A jar contains a mix of ink and water with a total volume of 180 liters in the ratio 4:2. If 36 liters of water and 24 liters of ink are poured into it, the new ratio of ink to water becomes x:6. Find the value of
x.
Solution
ATQ,
Initial quantity of ink in the jar = 180 Γ 4/6 = 120 liters
Initial quantity of water in the jar = 180 β 120 = 60 liters
(120 + 24)/(60 + 36) = x/6
144/96 = x/6
3/2 = x/6
x = (3 Γ 6)/2 = 18/2 = 9
