Question
140 litres of a mixture contains 30% milk and rest
water. If ‘x’ litres of milk is added into the mixture then quantity of water in the final mixture becomes 25% of total quantity of mixture. Find the value of ‘x’.Solution
Quantity of milk in the initial mixture = 140 × 0.30 = 42 litres Quantity of water in the initial mixture = 140 – 42 = 98 litres Quantity of water is unchanged in the final mixture. So, Quantity of final mixture = (98/25) × 100 = 392 litres Quantity of milk in final mixture = 392 – 98 = 294 litres Value of ‘x’ = 294 – 42 = 252
