Question
Metal mixture ‘P’ consists of iron and nickel in a 4:3
ratio, and metal mixture ‘Q’ contains only nickel and chromium in a 1:2 ratio. If 35 grams of ‘P’ and 60 grams of ‘Q’ are mixed together, then what will be the final ratio of iron, nickel, and chromium?Solution
ATQ,
Weight of iron in 35 grams of ‘P’ = 35 × (4/7) = 20 grams
So, weight of nickel in 35 grams of ‘P’ = 35 − 20 = 15 grams
Weight of nickel in 60 grams of ‘Q’ = 60 × (1/3) = 20 grams
So, weight of chromium in 60 grams of ‘Q’ = 60 − 20 = 40 grams
So, total weight of nickel = 15 + 20 = 35 grams
So, required ratio = 20 : 35 : 40 = 4 : 7 : 8
