    Total quantity of mixture = 84 liters Quantity of milk in the mixture = 5/12 x 84 = 35 liters Quantity of water in the mixture = 84-35 = 49 liters Let the quantity of water added to the mixture be x liters. 35/ (49 + x) = 3/5 35 x 5 = (49 + x) x 3 175=147 + 3x 3x = 175-147 3x = 28   x = 28/3 x = 9.33 liters.
