Green apples sold by ‘P’ are 100 less than red apples sold by him. Total apples sold by ‘Q’ are 1080 which is 20% more than that by ‘P’ and ratio of green apples sold by ‘P’ and ‘Q’ is 2:3 respectively. Average number of apples sold by ‘R’ and ‘S’ is 680 and the ratio of green apples to red apples sold by ‘S’ is 5:7. Red apples sold by ‘R’ is 20% less than that by ‘Q’ and 50% more than green apples sold by him.

What is difference between the number of Red apples sold by ‘P’ and ‘Q’ together and the number of Green apples sold by ‘R’ and ‘S’ together?

A 504 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 634 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 354 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 424 Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

Solution

Total apples sold by ‘P’ = 1080/1.20 = 900 Green apples sold by ‘P’ = (900 – 100)/2 = 400 Red apples sold by ‘P’ = 900 – 400 = 500 Green apples sold by ‘Q’ = 3/2 × 400 = 600 Red apples sold by ‘Q’ = 1080 – 600 = 480 Red apples sold by ‘R’ = 0.80 × 480 = 384 Green apples sold by ‘R’ = 384/1.50 = 256 Total apples sold by ‘R’ = 256 + 384 = 640 Total apples sold by ‘S’ = 680 × 2 – 640 = 720 Green apples sold by ‘S’ = 5/12 × 720 = 300 Red apples sold by ‘S’ = 7/12 × 720 = 420 Number of Red apples sold by ‘P’ and ‘Q’ together = 500 + 480 = 980 Number of Green apples sold by ‘R’ and ‘S’ together = 256 + 300 = 556 Required difference = 980 – 556 = 424
