Question
A boat moving downstream covers a distance of 200km in 5
hrs as long as to cover the same distance upstream it takes 10hrs. What will be the time taken by boat in still water to cover 360km.Solution
Let a boat moving in Downstream speed , (V + S) = 200/5 …..(1) = 40 km/h Upstream speed, (V - S) = 200/10…… (2) = 20 km/h Adding both equations (1) and (2) 2V= 60 km/h V= 30km/h Time in which boat will cover 360km in still water will be = 360/30 = 12 hrs.
