Question
Average salary of 20 employees is ₹50,000 and average salary of 'n' employees is ₹40,000. If average salary of all the employees is ₹45,000, then find the value of (n - 5).
Solution
Sum of salary of employees = 20 × 50000 = 10,00,000 Sum of salary of other employees = 40000n (1000000 + 40000n) ÷ (n + 20) = 45000 Or, 1000000 + 40000n = 45000n + 900000 Or, 5000n = 100000 Or, 'n' = 20 Required value = 20 - 5 = 15
