respectively. If the sum of 'A's age 3 years ago and 'B's age 8 years from now is 50 years, what is the present age of 'A'?
A 35 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 45 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 10 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 27 yrs Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E None of these Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

      Solution

      ATQ,

Let the present age of 'A' and 'B' be 6a years and 4a years respectively.

      So, age of 'A' 3 years ago = 6a - 3 years

      And, age of 'B' 8 years later = 4a + 8 years

      ATQ,

      6a - 3 + 4a + 8 = 50

      ⇒ 10a + 5 = 50

      ⇒ 10a = 45

      ⇒ a = 4.5

      Therefore, present age of 'A' = 6 × 4.5 = 27 years
