Question

C is three years older than B, while ratio of age of A to that of B four years ago was 3: 5. If age of A eight years later will be equal to the age of C three years ago then find present age of C?

A 24 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
B 25 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
C 30 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
D 27 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer
E 20 years Correct Answer Incorrect Answer

Solution

Let the age of A and B four years ago be 3x and 5x years respectively. Let present age of C be ‘y’ years. Present age of A = (3x + 4) years Present age of B = (5x + 4) years According to question, => 3x + 4 + 8 = y – 3 => y – 3x = 15 ------ (i) And y − (5x + 4) = 3 => y − 5x = 7 ------ (ii) From (i) and (ii) we get, => x = 4 years Present age of C = 27 years
