Question
Five years ago, the ratio of age of 'A' to 'B' was 4:5.
After ten years, the ratio of age of 'A' to 'B' will be 7:8. Find the current age of 'C' who is 6 years younger than 'B'.Solution
ATQ,
Let the age of 'A' and 'B', five years ago be '4a' and '5a' years, respectively.
So, (4a + 5 + 10) : (5a + 5 + 10) = 7:8
Or, 8 × (4a + 15) = 7 × (5a + 15)
Or, 32a + 120 = 35a + 105
Or, 3a = 15
So, a = 5
Required age = 5 × 5 + 5 - 6 = 24 years
