Age criteria
All the candidates who are interested in applying for the post of SEBI Grade A in the Legal stream should be within the prescribed SEBI Grade A age limit. For the SEBI Grade A Officer Recruitment 2023, the maximum age limit is 30 years, as on May 31, 2023. The crucial date for determining the age will be May 31, 2023. SEBI Law Officer Exam Pattern
While you prepare yourself for an important examination like this, it is extremely important to know the SEBI Grade A exam pattern. The selection process for SEBI Grade A Legal & all other streams consists of three main phases.
- Phase 1 - Online examination
- Phase 2 - Online examination
- Phase 3 - Interview
Phase 1 Exam Pattern
SEBI Grade A Phase 1 for Legal consists of an online examination that will be objective in nature. The online exam will consist of two papers of 100 marks each. Paper 1 will comprise multiple choice questions on various subjects like General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Test of Reasoning. Paper 2 will consist of multiple choice questions (MCQs) based on the specialized subject. i.e. Legal in this case.
- Both Paper 1 and Paper 2 will carry a negative marking of 1/4th mark for every wrong answer.
- The paper will be available in both English and Hindi, except for the test of English Language.

Phase 2 Exam Pattern
SEBI Grade A pattern for Legal Phase 2 also consists of two papers carrying 100 marks each. Paper 1 will be Descriptive English. Paper 2 will consist of 70 multiple-choice questions as well as 3 descriptive-type questions based on the specialized stream, i.e., Legal.
- Here also there will be a negative marking of 1/4th mark for every wrong answer.
- The paper will be available in English as well as Hindi, except for the test of Descriptive English.

Interview
After qualifying for the SEBI Grade A Phase 2 exam, the candidates will be called for the next and final stage i.e. Interview. You will have the option to choose either Hindi or English as the medium of language for the Interview. The SEBI Legal interview will be held for 13.5 marks. 10% weightage of marks will be given to post qualification as well whereas the rest of the Interview will be given a weightage of 90%. Overall, the SEBI Officer Grade A Phase 2 exam will carry 85%, while marks obtained in the Interview shall be given a weightage of 15%.

The SEBI Grade A Legal exam will have two phases of online exam with two papers in each phase that will contain various subjects such as English Language, Reasoning, Quants, General Awareness & questions based on the Law subjects.
