How many floor between D and the one who likes
BMW? Answer the questions based on the information given below. Eight persons A, B, C, D, E, F, G and H are living on four different floors of a building. Ground floor is numbered 1 and top floor is numbered four. There are two flats on each floor- flat-1 and flat-2 from west to east such that flat 1 is west of flat 2. Flat-1 of second floor is exactly above flat-1 of first floor and other flats are placed in the same way. All of them likes different cars brands i.e. Toyota, Honda, Ford, Audi, Ferrari, BMW, Renault and Jaguar but not necessary in same order. A likes Audi and lives in even number flat. D lives North West of E’s flat. C lives one of the floor below D’s floor. One floor is between H and F, who likes Jaguar. H and F lives in same flat number. E does not live on second floor. Only one floor gap between the one who likes Renault and the one who likes Toyota. The one who likes Honda does not live in even number flat. B lives east of H who lives south of D. G does not live in the same flat number in which E lives. G lives above E. the one who likes Ferrari lives west of the one who likes Ford. The one who likes Toyota lives above the floor of one who likes Ferrari. The one who likes BMW lives in even number flat.Solution
(i) D lives North West of E’s flat. (ii) E does not live on second floor. (iii) G does not live in the same flat number in which E lives. G lives above E. From these statements, we will have six cases: D lives at flat 1 either on floor no. 4 or 3 or 2. E lives at flat 2 on floor no. 1. G lives at flat 1 on floor no. 4 or 3 or 2. (iv) B lives east of H who lives south of D. H lives at flat 1 of either floor no. 2 or 3. B lives at flat 2 of either floor no. 2 or 3. Case 4 , 5 and 6 will get discarded. 
(vi) C lives one of the floor below D’s floor. So, C lives at flat 2 of floor no. 2. (vii) A likes Audi and lives in even number flat. So, A lives at flat 2 of floor no. 4. (viii) Only one floor gap between the one who likes Renault and the one who likes Toyota. The one who likes Honda does not live in even number flat. (ix) The one who likes Ferrari lives west of the one who likes Ford. The one who likes Toyota lives above the floor of one who likes Ferrari. The one who likes BMW lives in even number flat. The one who likes Toyota lives at flat 1 on floor no. 4 and the one who likes Ferrari lives at flat 1 on floor no. 3. The one who likes Honda lives at flat 1 on floor no. 2. The one who likes Renault lives at flat 2 on floor no. 2.
